Miele Vacuum Cleaners FAQs
Miele Upright Vacuum does not turn on
Miele Vacuums are quality built so if the vacuum is not turning on, the solution is often 1 of 2 things:
- If the vacuum is relatively new or recently assembled
- Check that the handle is pushed down all the way until it clicks.
- Sometimes its easier to pull the handle out first (Make sure you have the cord unraveled to make this possible)
- The handle has the power cord inside of it and often does not get pushed down to lock in place so it will work a couple times but can often come loose with pulling and pushing.
- Check that the handle is pushed down all the way until it clicks.
- If 1 does not solve the problem check that your bag still has capacity and is installed correctly.
- If 2 does not solve the problem it is likely there is an obstruction in the machine which has caused the safety thermal to turn off the vacuum to prevent motor overheating.
- Check the bottom of the nozzle (where the brush roller is) first to verify there are no obvious or superficial clogs that are easily accessible in the brush roll area.
- Remove the attachments handle from the telescopic aluminum tube and verify that there are no clumps of hair debris there.
- Remove the hose from the base of the vacuum (there is an imprint where the hose connects to the base of the upright where it hinges indicating the direction to twist it for removal) drop a marble or a quarter from one end of the hose to the other to determine there are no hidden obstructions there.
- Check the trap door on the back (plastic screws so do not torque them too much only a quarter twist with a Phillips screwdriver should do the trick and then pry it open)
- If 1, 2 or 3 do not solve the problem locate your nearest Miele Vacuum Store (most vacuum stores are Miele authorized but check the miele locator to verify). The experts there should be helpful enough to assist you further.
- Important that you do not remove any other components in order to avoid voiding your Manufacturer warranty (most Miele vacuums have between a 1-10 year warranty).
- If the vacuum is relatively new or recently assembled
